Ghoomar Dance

Ghoomar Dance: An essential community dance for women and is performed on auspicious occasions. In involves a few ladies moves gently and gracefully in circles. It derives its name from the word ghoomna which means pirouette.




Chari Dance: A lighted lamp is placed on the pot or Chari, which is placed on the head of the dancer.



Kachhi Ghodi Dance

Kachhi Ghodi: This is a dance that is performed on dummy horses. Men in the traditional Rajasthani attire, ride on well-ornated dummy horses with naked swords in their hands and move rhythmically to the enchanting tunes of the drums and pipes








Fire Dance:The Jasnathi community of Bikaner as well as Churu are famous for their tantrik powers and this dance is in tune with their lifestyle. A large ground is prepared where the men and boys jump in the fire to the drum beats.As the music gradually rises in tempo, the dancer seems to be in a trance-like state.


Terah Taali: The dance is performed honouring Baba Ramdeo, the local deity, by the Kamad community of Pokhran and Deedwana towns of Rajasthan. A rather unusual dance formpe, where the men play the Chau-tara, a four-stringed instrument is played by the women who sit with dozens of manjeeras, or cymbals, tied all over their bodies and produce music by striking them with the ones that they hold in their hands!


Sometimes, the women also hold a sword between their teeth or place pots with lighted lamps on their heads.


Kalbelia Dance (Snake Charmer): The dance of the Kalbelia women is all about vibrancy and grace. The dance rises to a crescendo to the music. The performer dances on the glowing embers, which may well leave you spell-bound!
